As hardware continues to advance, it’s often difficult for even the latest software to actually make the most of the latest innovations. This means that the most advanced computers are for the most part not being pushed to their full potential. While they are able to run the newest software with fantastic smoothness and performance, this still within the ability of older models as well.

Automotive technology operates in a similar manner. The newest and most powerful cars often use technology that is not viable on standard roadways. There’s almost no use for the type of horsepower that delivers speeds that would guarantee you a first class trip to the county jail. While there are a few special niches where the cutting edge of performance isactually practical, for example: race cars and trucks used for moving equipment, but the average driver will never see a legitimate use for this kind of power. Instead, some drivers who have no legitimate use for it get pricey and unreasonably powerful cars as status symbols.

This tradition exists in computer technology as well. Advanced computer equipment will deliver massive but for the most part pointless differences in performance. There are people who pay massive sums of money to buy computer equipment that outpaces the demands of current software. These individuals like to express themselves with unique builds that they believe will deliver ideal performance. Between members of this community, one-upsmanship often runs rampant as everyone attempts to obtain the newest and strongest hardware configured to deliver the absolute maximum in performance ability.

The tools these fanatical users use to compare their exceptional machines are typically referred to as benchmarking. Computer benchmarking is a method of determining the performance ability of hardware based on a consistent set of variables. For example, a gamer may look at average frame rates while playing a certain game at a certain resolution. This is a kind of benchmark. Some hardware companies will publish benchmark results as a way to promote the performance of their product. This helps customers figure out what components to purchase in the future.

There are also several programs used just for benchmarking. For the most powerful components, this is the only realistic way to test their performance at full load. Since even new software doesn’t challenge the latest hardware, these programs are created for the express purpose of stressing your PC. Rapid calculations and other activities are used to create comparative metrics by which advanced hardware can be judged.

This may seem to be a strange pursuit for most reasonable customers. Why purchase costly computer hardware that has no real practical use? The answer is in the competitive nature of the advanced hardware junkie. For some people, nothing does the trick like a water-cooled monstrosity that attains incredible benchmarks. The computer will most likely last a very long while as well. Future programs will run without difficulty

This quirky collective explores the frontiers of technology. They test the performance of advanced hardware before most consumer programs get the chance. This allows for the distribution of useful data that may help in later technical support applications. It also helps typical customers make intelligent decisions about future hardware upgrades. Most of these advanced parts will soon be sold at a much lower price. As a result of this information, the common consumer will be able to purchase the hardware the delivers the best performance on their favorite programs.

Geek Choice understands and appreciates the hard work of those that create benchmark data for the latest hardware releases.

Small company and home office workers can come across complicated computer issues during any given day. Many companies cannot afford a dedicated IT employee, therefore it is critical to understand the proper diagnositc methods to get effective Chicago computer service. Whether you have a Mac or a PC, there are several steps you want to take to ensure you get up and running in less time.

Determining Your Computer Problems

As a first step it’s important to identify whether your particular computer service issue is caused by a hardware or software problem. Often times, older computer hardware creates difficulties including faulty hard drives or a cooling fan that results in an overheated machine. Specific types of accidents, such as spills and drops can also impair your computer’s hardware, while general damaged over time may be due to dust in the environment. Try to isolate the various potential causes of the problem to see if you can identify an easy solution.

In some cases, you should check your graphics card, router or network card. If your PC is running okay but you have a single issue, it could be a component which can be easily replaced. A repair technician should be able to help you diagnose the particular problem, and many newer components are covered under limited replacement warranties as well.

Software related problems can be more complex, since they are caused by a variety of issues relating to the data on your computer. Common problems that arise include a machine running slowly due to a lack of sufficient memory (RAM), viruses or spyware that can impair the performance of your machine or incompatibilities caused by running multiple apps simultaneously. While there is no single solution to these problems, it’s important to actively run a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware software that can monitor your links, downloads and machine performance. For more complicated problems, it is important to consult a qualified Chicago computer service company.

Service Methods to Repair your Computer

There are thousands of local, independent computer service professionals who can provide onsite support for your particular computer needs. Additionally many national and regional chains provide in-store service for both 3rd party and direct warranty purchases. Having a qualified tech look at your problems can help you better understand the problem with your PC.

If you problems are related to a networking or broadband issue, you may find that your particular computer was not the root of the problem. Once your machine is repaired, you should take all necessary steps to ensure the problem does not happen again. Investing in proper computer service can provide repairs as well as preventative maintenance that can help you shift your focus back to your work, so you can continue utilizing technology as it was intended.

There is a very real environmental battle taking place, which you can help. How about those empty toner cartidges from your laser printer. There’s lots of ways you can do this by starting to recycle them.

Remember the mantra for our day has to “reduce, reuse and recycle”

the simple fact is that yoou can save valuable raw materials, energy and waste by simply using your lasetr toner cartidges again. Nearly 50 million laser cartridges are bought each year just in Europe, 95% of these only get used once. Considering each new cartridge takes between 1 and 2 litres of oil to produce, that’s a lot of waste.

The empty cartridges often end up as landfill, dumped all across the world. The materials don’t exactly decompose quickly either, the plastics are usually non-biodegradable. Every single time you reuse a cartridge you save on waste landfill.

Don’t throw these cartidges away or even send off to the many ’so-called’ environmentally friendly remanufacture schemes, designed to save the print companies eco-reputation. Remember these empty toner cartridges all used to come with a little stopper which you could use to refill with compatible toner ink, now that’s eco friendly.
However the printng companies realised they were missing out on a huge source of revenue here – so they removed them.

There are many companies who can provide you with simple kits which can refill most empty toner cartridges. Many of these cartidges can be refilled 4 or 5 times with no real problems and each time you are saving up to 87% of the cost of a new laser toner cartridge.

All you need is one of the kits and some compatible toner to refill it, most cases it’s a 5 minute job, and requires no real skill. These empty cartridges work fine, they just need more ink.

Remember they’re not broken, not faulty, merely empty. If you notice a little plug or stopper on your cartridge, it means that your toner is one of the lucky few and is designed to be refilled. You can refill it quickly by buying a bottle of replacement toner.

Other cartridges need you to create a refiller hole but it’s very simple with the right kit anyone can do this. You don’t need to tamper with the cartridge itself (as you have to in remanufacturing), so there’s little that can go wrong. You’re just filling it up with ink, have a look at this Refill Toner Review .

They won’t damage your printer, and you can refill the cartridge until you see a deteriation in the print quality and then buy a new one. The advantage you will have saved hundreds of dollars and reduced environmental waste significantly. Imagine if every one did this, saving millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands less toner cartridges being produced and thrown away.

So explore this possibility and please don’t throw away those empty toner cartridges, refill them and save some money.

Over time, your computer may get slower. From temporary files to auxiliary files left behind after program uninstalls to duplicate files left when programs are updated or reinstalled, there are countless unneeded files clogging your PC’s hard disk. Follow these simple tips to keep your computer running faster.

Cleaning the Temp folder:

The Temp folder on your hard drive (located: C:/Windows/Temp) is where all temporary files utilized by programs or your internet browser are stored. Since they are one-time use files, you can safely delete all of them from the folder.

There may be anywhere from a few to very many files in the folder. Select them all and either hit the “Delete” key on your keyboard or right click on one of the files and select Delete

Searching for *.tmp files:

Sometimes, temporary files are stored in other places. To remove these temp files, go to the Start menu and select Search. Select All files and folders and type into the “All or part of file” box: *.tmp and hit Search. When the search is complete, select all.tmp files and delete.

Disk Cleanup

To rid your hard drive of any other unneeded, outdated, or duplicate files, run the Disk Cleanup by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and selecting Disk Cleanup. It takes a few minutes to complete.

Defragmenting your hard drive:

To cap off your file purge, defragmenting your hard drive will further optimize speed and clean up gaps in your hard drive left by the files deleted previously. To use the Disk Defragmenter:

¢ Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and select Disk Defragment.
¢ In the Disk Defragmenter window, select the Defragment option.

It starts by analyzing the file configuration and then compacting the files.

It is suggested that while utilizing your disk defragmenter, all other programs are closed and you leave your computer idle. Since the process can take up to several hours on a computer that has not been fragmented recently, it is also suggested to let the defragmenter run overnight.

When it’s finished, your computer should run a lot smoother. If you would rather download a registry cleaner to speed up your computer, you will save a lot of time. It will also provide regular maintenance and prevent future registry errors.

It is an oversimplification when people say you don’t need to protect your data online unless you’ve got something to hide. They’re certainly not using the same internet as me! I think this opinion is more a matter of not knowing the risks than thinking they don’t exist. The simple fact that there is a huge information war going on all around us and the information generally being targeted is ours, that’s why I use anonymous software.

So who is exactly after our data ?

It’s a long list but here’s some examples to start.

Search Engines, want to build up profiles to target their searches, and their advertising.

Companies can create profiles from your surfing habits.

Democratic Governments – to catch criminals, terrorists and monitor their population looking for’baddies’.

The Less democratic governments – track and imprison political dissidents, quell any opposition.

Identity thieves, our information is gold to them, why risk your liberty stealing from someone in the real life, when you can wipe out their bank accounts from Cyberspace.

These are black and white statements but of course there are a myriad of real life examples which lie somewhere in between. Please remember that across the world many are incarcerated for ’saying the wrong thing’ on blogs or websites. Just as there are huge crime rings spreading from Eastern Europe to South America which specialise in Cyber crime.

No one knows exactly how much is stolen online every year. Any guesses would be inevitably be innaccurate but experts agree the figures would be truly frightening. The sophistication of criminals grows every year, some of the most advanced cyber gangs like the ones in Brazil have frightening resources and technical skill.

You will see it at every level, take for instance your average spam or phishing email – have you noticed how these have changed? It wasn’t long ago that they were all very obvious fakes filled with spelling mistakes. Nowadays even the most savvy user may have to look twice before spotting a fake. The advances in this area have often been exceeded in other areas.

Take for example using proxy servers online for various reasons. People often use them to bypass fitering, surf anonymously or to access content in a country which is blocked or maybe like BBC or Hulu. Identity thieves will frequently ‘release’ such proxies in order to target these people. This is because when you use a proxy server you generally leave a huge log of all your data on that server. Every web site you visit and all your data is left in the logs of the proxies, they can even intercept Secure SSL traffic with a few little techniques. Doesn’t take long to amass some details, some account names, passwords – maybe access to your online bank accounts.

There are many reasons why you should protect your data, everyone should learn about the dangers.

I’m writing this article to give you a little insight into common traps that appear on the Internet everyday. As soon as you recognize the con, you will have no problem keeping your computer healthy. Have a look at these common cons.

Security Scan

This pop-up ad is made to look like a virus warning message. The “warning” tells you that you have a virus and offers to fix it for a fee information to make you think it is legitimate. Any pop-up that asks you for money to fix a problem you didn’t know you had is a con. As you pay them the money, the phantom virus goes away. At this point you have a poorly written software package that has no value. In addition, these applications can often interfere with your legitimate virus protection Now, you spent your money and caused more problems than you fixed.

Free products

I can’t stress this enough, anything that offers you anything for free is a con. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Any type of message or an email telling you that you won or you have been selected for anything, you are about to get a flood of email. There is no UK lottery or Internet lottery, I promise. Also, I don’t like your chances of receiving the free iPod just for clicking a link and submitting your ship to address. Stay away from these ads.

Cheap medications

Just no, it doesn’t happen. While there may be reputable pharmacies in Canada, they did not send you email informing you of their big sale. Nor do they only sell products that some may be embarrassed to buy from the local Walgreens. The plan here is to simply never send you anything and they hope you will not call your bank to cancel the CC transaction. There is always a long delivery time in the hopes that people will either forget or lose interest.

For more information about these common problems see the computer help for dummies article.

Initial outlay in monetary terms is always going to be a concern for those individuals just starting out in the world of internet marketing. They will not want to spend a whole lot of money initially without first making some in return, but this can and will take some time to accomplish. It can take a while before you begin to see any rewards from your hard work and for new internet marketers it can take quite a bit longer as they will need to learn all about the correct way to make money online.

One essential element to any online business is web hosting. If you want to make money online you will have to have a website and to get your website up on the World Wide Web, you will require the services of a good web host. A web host will enable your site to be seen by the world and will provide you with a platform on which to display your site. So is it worth paying for this service?

The short answer to that is, yes it is! There are web hosts that host sites for free, but this “free” does ultimately have a price. You will have to have the web hosts adverts placed on your site and for anyone in the know, this can look unprofessional and amateurish. This can also have the effect of putting visitors to your site off.

If you look around, there are many low cost web hosting services on the internet that can offer a plethora of services and features for the newbie internet marketer. By choosing a shared web host you will be able to give your site a professional look and will not be paying the earth. Most of these low cost web hosting services will also give you email accounts, and this reduces the need for you to use the free email that is available online, and this in itself adds a more professional appeal to your internet marketing endeavours.

Why you need to Buy A Wifi Printer

Basically a wifi printer has a built in wireless network card, just like all the laptops that come out today. This allows it to connect the wireless network in your home or office. I know it doesn’t sound that big a deal but this little piece of added functionality in a printer can make a big difference in terms of convenience, ease of use and installation.

There are tons of benefits of using a wireless printer over a regular printer that you connect to your computer via USB and even network printers that connect to your network by Ethernet cable.

For starters, anyone connected to your wireless network can print to it, so potentially hundreds of people can print using your one wifi printer. Sure a network printer can be shared by many people as well but they are usually a lot tougher to setup with more cabling involved, in some cases going through floors and walls. They are also bigger and harder to move.

Because other printers require cables you are constrained in where you can put your printer, especially with USB printers where they must be very close to a computer to connect to it. With Wifi Printers you can put them where ever you want, all you need is a power outlet. Wireless printers also have the benefit being very easy to set up and use. It is a bit different depending on the specific printer but usually you just need to press a network configuration button on the printer, choose your network out of the wireless networks within range, enter in you password and encryption (if applicable) then the printer will connect to the network. After this just use the CD that came with the printer to install it on your computer.

Wifi Printers aren’t even appreciably more expensive than regular printers, you can get one new for around $70 on amazon. There are many regular printers that are more expensive than that. Some of the top rated Wireless printers are the Lexmark X4650 for $72.95 and the Brother MTC-490CW which is a bit more expensive at $118.90 but has the added functionality of a built in fax machine.

In many households the general setup is there are 2-4 computers or laptops accessing the internet through a wireless router. However, only one computer will have a printer plugged in and if you want to print then that is the one you must use. If you made a document on a different device you will need to transfer it over via USB or email. With a wireless printer you can avoid that hassle and allow all the computers in the household to share the same printer.

If you are on the internet, then the odds are good that you already have a wireless network because of how common they have become. Most offices will also have a wireless network set up. So the next time you need a new printer, go for the added convenience and functionality of a Wifi printer.

Hi friends, computer are very widely being used in every part of the work we do nowadays. It has become inseparable from human being needs. It has helped us in many ways and is still doing. It is the greatest invention of technology so far. Internal working of the computer is very complex. It is not easy to understand. You will need a lot of things to learn before beginning to understand how computer works. Today I am going to discuss with you about registry of computer.

Registry of computer is a very complicated things, it is a database which stores the settings and options for windows operating system probably the Microsoft windows operating systems. It contains information and settings for hardware, operating system software, most non-operating software like we use to install third-party software’s etc and also contains information of per-user settings. Every kind of work we do on the computer through software and software behavior like how the software are working is all monitored by the registry because it has settings of all the software’s being installed and uninstalled.

Registry is very important part of the computer; it’s like a heart of it. If you have knowledge of registry then you can do any kind of manipulation and make software’s work according to your choice. Isn’t it cool? Well but the first thing is that registry is not an easy task to master. It is very hard. If you make some mistake in the manipulation then some of your software’s might not work and if by mistake the windows registry file gets corrupted then the system will not working urging you to fix and repair your registry first. So it’s very important, you should only do those manipulation things if you think and know what you are doing.

I do have little knowledge about registry and have done some work in it. In my computer tips and tricks blog, I have wrote some work I have done like changing some figure in the yahoo messenger registry which later enable us to work in 2 yahoo messenger simultaneously. In the same way you can also make partition of hard drives by making some changes in the registry. There are lots of works and wonders we can do by registry manipulation. The only thing is that you should be aware of what you are doing. By the way you can always back up your computer before playing around with your computer. There is a restore point in the computer which very less people use. I have made very good use of them earlier and I still use them when needed. Always make sure you create a restore point in your computer before doing any risky work. If things go wrong, this restore point will bring your computer to normalcy. So don’t forget back up and restore point facility.

Find important tips in the topic of traffic to website – welcome to your individual knowledge base.

Fujitsu got jealous of Amazon and created the color version of Kindle ! The new product is designed to read newspapers electronically, and is being tested these days by Fujitsu in various cafes in Japan. It is a very thin display device with e-ink technology (electronic ink) that consumes minimal battery energy (50 hours of operation time), while the reading experience is very relaxing as the screen is illuminated by the light of the environment like a normal book. The big difference from the Kindle is that it has a larger display size of 12 inches and 4096 colors so you can see color photos as well.

The screen of the Fujitsu device does not work with video since the screen turns off slowly, however, it is very relaxing to the eyes for reading static pages. The device is called the Fujitsu Flepia, it has WiFi and accepts 1-4GB memory and its thickness is only 12 mm. The Fujitsu e-book device will be running Windows CE 5.0.
